Activities

Leisure, engagement and recreation play a critical role in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. It is a means for them to meet new friends, find new interests, and be engaged in an environment that is stimulating and fun. One great advantage to providing these activities is that they can take place in community settings and are inclusive in their nature. The activities offered at McCall's are not limited to the campus. We also provide a variety of local and out-of-town options which include, but are not limited to: swimming, concerts, OKC Dodgers games, theatre, bowling, and many more!

Closer to home, our campus features the Burpee Activities Center, which opened in the spring of 2020. The “BAC,” as it is known, hosts our annual Christmas Party, monthly staff meetings, regular “dance” nights, along with other social functions and also serves as a continuous resource for our residents and staff. Movies and sporting events can be seen on a state-of-the art audio-visual system; arts and crafts created in the vast open area; gaming systems align the north end of the building; and, finally, exercise equipment, including stationary bikes, treadmills and ellipticals are available for residents and staff.

Everyday Life

Home is where the heart is, and we are proud of the facility we have built for the residents here to call home. The campus itself is stunning with over 197 acres of green grass, well-kept lawns, flowers, greenhouse and other foliage, and ample room to explore. The campus also maintains a sheltered workshop, computer lab, basketball courts, swingsets, visitation center, and even scenic ponds where residents are able to fish! There are three covered pavilions for cookouts, including a patio with a custom-made cooling spray system for our residents and staff to enjoy in the hot, summer months. This allows plenty of opportunity for our residents to interact with each other in a positive, social setting and enjoy each other’s company. Another spectacular feature our facility provides are the various paved walking and bike riding trails that run throughout the entire campus.
